the challenge

The Global Gateway Forum convened representatives from governments across the European Union and around the world, alongside the private sector, civil society, leading thinkers, financing institutions, and international organizations. This 2-day, invitation-only event took place in Brussels in October 2023. The primary objective of the forum was to foster collaboration with regions beyond the EU, encompassing Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Pacific, and Asia.

During this pivotal gathering, the forum unveiled a series of strategic investment announcements and agreements with partner countries, marking a significant stride towards implementing the Global Gateway strategy. These announcements not only emphasized the tangible worldwide impact of Global Gateway but also served as a platform for governments and businesses to engage in crucial discussions regarding its priorities.

Action Public Sector, entrusted by DG INTPA, took charge of managing media relations at the event. Their focus was on amplifying media efforts in three selected partner countries (the Philippines, Namibia, and Zambia) to maximise coverage of the announcements.

our approach

Action Public Sector devised a media strategy, concentrating on promoting the announcements to both regional and national press in Africa and Asia. Leveraging Action’s local teams on the ground, we disseminated news about agreements with the governments of the Philippines, Namibia, and Zambia through press releases. Additionally, we facilitated interview opportunities with Jutta Urpilainen, Commissioner for International Partnerships. This approach aimed to convey in-depth viewpoints, along with key messages, to target audiences, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the developments.
