Synergy in Action: Promoting Reform through Dialogue
Action Ukraine is proud of the successful completion of a project funded by the British Embassy in Ukraine aimed at regional dialogue to promote reforms under the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement (AA), including a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA).
The ‘Synergy in Action’ project involved supporting its implementation by raising interest and promoting the exchange of information between business, national and local authorities, NGOs and media on a regional level, as well as state and independent experts on European integration.
Within the project framework, Action developed and conducted ‘Regional Clubs of Reforms’ in four pilot cities of Ukraine – Vinnytsia, Poltava, Chernivsti and Chernihiv – as platforms to encourage communications and cooperation between local authorities, EU member states, international donor projects participants, local business and communities, and mass media.
Action Ukraine also initiated and conducted a contest for regional journalists for the best publication addressing the topic: ‘When will the Association Agreement become the dominant idea?’, thereby increasing the knowhow of regional journalists when it comes to EU affairs while encouraging them to cover the EU-Ukraine agenda. Media interest was coupled with online promotion, via social media channels including specially set up facebook pages for the project.
