EU Culture Week: Viewing Europe Through the Arts

‘EU Culture Week’ recently became a hot topic in three different cities across Georgia, as Action Georgia teamed up with the EU Delegation to Georgia to promote European values through shared experiences and an appreciation of the arts. The occasion is part of the EU Cultural Factory 2014 within the framework of the ‘Let’s Meet Europe 3’ project funded by the European Union and implemented by Action Global Communications.

With festivities attracting thousands of crowds in Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Poti, the occasion offered the general public the opportunity to enjoy numerous free cultural activities, from literary discussions with Georgian and European writers to musical concerts, cinema screenings, theatre performances, exhibitions, street art and special children’s events.

Action Georgia drew on its vast experience and professional network of journalists to secure high level media coverage in all regions across the country, including interviews with local artists, popular Georgian writers, and European musicians. The event press conference and launch were featured on the state broadcaster’s radio and TV channels, while also promoted via dozens of other popular media outlets.

Swedish Ambassador, Martina Quick,  formally inaugurated the week of festivities and welcomed popular Swedish electronic pop band Tikkle Me for the kick-off event, while the British Council helped bring multi-award winning British composer and pianist, Oliver Poole, to entertain the crowds. Popular local Georgian bands, The Bear Fox and LOUDspeakers, also took to the limelight to perform to excited crowds.
