Kids Read, a fun new reading initiative aimed at government primary school kids to encourage reading for pleasure inside and outside the classroom, was launched on 26 October 2011 at the British Council office in Agouza.

Kids Read, exclusively sponsored by HSBC, has been developed by the British Council to give as many kids as possible the opportunity to read and help awaken their enthusiasm to read by making it enjoyable and accessible.  Working together with the Ministries of Education, HSBC and British Council hope to reach over 25,000 children across 13 countries in the MENA region, initially for one academic year.  The programme involves a variety of school activities alongside public activity through community events. Egypt’s Ministry of Education is supporting Kids Read in its push to improve literacy across the country.
