the challenge

The European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) is the largest annual conference dedicated to renewable energy and efficient energy use in Europe. It comprises a series of activities aimed at building a secure energy future. The event brings together public authorities at local, national, and European levels, private companies, NGOs, EU project partners, researchers, consumers, media, and young people to promote initiatives that accelerate Europe’s energy transition.

Following the success of previous editions, the objectives of the 18th edition of EUSEW, which took place between June 11-13, 2024, in Brussels in a hybrid format, were to maintain the event’s status as the main platform for open debate and exchange of ideas and experiences among energy experts, policymakers, businesses, and private consumers engaged in helping to meet the EU’s energy and climate goals.

Action Public Sector was tasked by CINEA to manage the media relations campaign for EUSEW 2024, leading up to the actual event in June 2024. Activities included effective coordination with key media partners specialised in the sustainable energy field; communication and management of media relations around the 2024 EUSEW Awards’ finalists and winners in nine EU Member States; organisation of interviews for finalists and winners; pitching opinion editorials written by energy experts; and media management at the event.

our approach

Action’s specialised public sector team provided a media strategy focused on the major milestones of the EUSEW 2024 communications campaign. One key aspect of the media activities was the promotion of the EUSEW Awards’ finalists and winners to both regional and national press in EU Member States, introducing these nine outstanding individuals and projects for their innovation and efforts in the field of energy efficiency and renewables. They were nominated in three categories: ‘Innovation’, ‘Local Energy Action’, and ‘Woman in Energy’. Through Action’s local teams on the ground, we shared the news with editors and journalists and coordinated interviews with key media contacts. We built an impressive portfolio of media partners and maintained close relations with them throughout the campaign, offering unique content and opinion editorials written by respected sustainable energy expert partners of EUSEW 2024.
