The EU organized the EU-Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) Forum, bringing together youth, civil society, and local authorities, at Maison de la Poste (Tour & Taxi) in Brussels, Belgium, on July 13-14, 2023.
The forum was part of the EU-LAC Days, which served as precursor events to the EU-CELAC Summit on July 17-18, 2023. A significant outcome of the EU-CELAC Summit was the EU-LAC Global Gateway Investment Agenda, a political commitment to collaborate with Latin America and the Caribbean.
The main challenge was to effectively manage multilingual and multinational media engagement for the EU-LAC Days, which occurred in the run-up to the summit. Action Public Sector ensured comprehensive coverage and seamless coordination with stakeholders across Europe and LAC regions. This included producing and disseminating media materials in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French, managing media partnerships, and facilitating interview requests from journalists before and during the event.
Countries: 10 EU Member States, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Jamaica and Mexico
our approach
Action’s specialised public sector team provided integrated media services, including compiling a targeted media list in coordination with DG INTPA and the Commission spokesperson to identify key journalists from EU and the LAC regions. We then organised a media trip for LAC journalists, prepared a detailed press itinerary, and facilitated onsite briefings and interviews. Action Public Sector’s dedicated multilingual press officers were assigned to manage media interactions, conduct briefings, and facilitate the press conference. They also managed interview requests and press events, such as a media brief with Commissioner Jutta Urpilainen and press points with the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs. Additionally, we produced two monitoring reports with qualitative and quantitative analysis of media coverage, ensuring comprehensive follow-up with attending journalists.
