Action Backs Bulgaria Hygiene Campaign
Action Backs Bulgaria Hygiene Campaign
Action’s cleaning up! Our Bulgaria office recently helped Unilever (and more specifically its Domestos product) to launch the Domestos Hygiene Programme, entitled “Health through Hygiene at Home and in School”.
Endorsed by the Ministry of Education, Youth & Science, the campaign took place in the primary schools of Bulgaria’s 4 largest cities– Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna and Burgas – during the second semester of the 2012-2013 school year.
The programme engaged 25 schools, 11,000 students, more than 300 teachers and around 22,000 parents, with some 2.5 million people exposed to the campaign through media and press releases.
The campaign began with all students received study materials through which they learnt about different microbes and the diseases they can cause. Teachers were given specific advice on how best to disseminate the information to their students. All the children who took part received certificates of participation and were given the opportunity to participate in a national competition, creating comic strips about: “How I Fought The Microbes”.
Hundreds of comic strips were received and a special judging panel was set up at the Ministry of Education, Youth & Science. The panel chose the winning class from the city of Plovdiv. The winners received MP4 players, Domestos cleaning products for the next school year, and more.
