A Blast From The Past In Light Of The Future

Action Romania have been busy taking a step back in time, supporting the mission of Europeana 1914-1918 to collect and publicize family memories and personal accounts from World War One online.
Based on crowd-sourcing, the Europeana initiative has given Romanians across the country the chance to contribute to a digital library while preserving WWI memorabilia for future generations to look back at.
The campaign involved the Action team accompanied by a group dressed as WWI soldiers ‘invading’ Bucharest’s newsrooms in a PR blitz, which resulted in massive social media buzz.
Grabbing the attention of a great number of journalists, the media went on to attend the Europeana 1914-1918 Bucharest press event which generated ample coverage, in preparation for the memorabilia collection days.
HRH Prince Radu of Romania was among the first to make a contribution to the digital library on behalf of the Romanian Royal House. The project then moved to the Transylvanian city of Cluj-Napoca, where another successful press event took place.
