Launch of W Doha Hotel and Residences (August 2007 – ongoing)
Objectives:
• To build up an awareness of the W luxury Brand
• To build up an awareness of W's stylish experience, signature restaurants, lounges, destination Spa (Bliss), W store.
• Highlight the experience W offers as an escape from routine and become a part of all that is "now"
• Highlight unique design, strategic alliances, experience driven packages and the Whatever/Whenever service
• Clearly educate target audiences of W's USP's
Challenges:
• Unknown concept outside the US market
• Identifying common ground between the W concept and the local market
• Influx of 80 new hotels in a time span of three years – leading to high competition
• Strong existing five star properties
• Effectively communicating W’s values and ways, without insulting local standards
Results:
• On average an article appeared in the media every week about W.
• Within six months, W’s name was a household word.
• The results of the PR campaign were realized when salespeople visited Ministries, Embassies, large organizations and potential clients and discovered they were already well aware of the property. W's external sales force confirmed that prior to their initial visits, already 80% of hotel's target audience had read or heard of the Qatar property.
• The opening of the property is in September 2008 and room bookings and requests for events are already being made.
Client satisfaction:
Absolutely wonderful. charming, resourceful, professional. Put them on the North Pole and they will be selling fridges to the Eskimos…
